| Event: Movember - 1st November |
Created By: blitz |
During Movember (the month formerly known as November) Ill be growin a Mo. Thats right Im bringing the Mo back because Im passionate about changing mens health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why...
- Depression affects 1 in 6 men...Most dont seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
- Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
- Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.
To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 69453 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the "Movember Foundation" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 69453 . Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.
For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.
Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night youll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket .

| Pasha Bulker ran aground on Nobbys Beach / 25th June |
Created By: blitz |
On the 8th June during one of NSW recent severe storms the Japanese coal tanker, the Pasha Bulker ran aground on Nobbys Beach, one of Newcastle`s popular beachs. While the tanker is empty and not carrying any coal, there are concerns that the 700 tonnes of fuel and 40 tonnes of oil could leak into the surrounding area.
It has already been reported that the first hulk has been breached, the risk is that if the second is breached there could be a potential natural disaster in the area. There are plans to try and refloat the vessel at the end of the month when tides are expected to be bigger.
Seeing the tank ran aground so close to land, is an amazing site, with lots of tourists and locals visiting the site to see it for themselves.

| Announcement: Event Guest Lists! |
Created By: blitz |
Over time I would like to phase out the posting out of complementary tickets by providing all Metroside patrons with the same discounts and conditions as the tickets, but do this by placing names on the guest list for each event. The benefit of this is that you will have extra time, two days or so, to submit a guest list for the event you wish to attend. Having to post out tickets to receive complementary entry needs to be posted out early in the week for you to receive them. If this isn`t done then you simply miss out on receiving complementary entry which I`m sure can be frustrating at times.
To submit a guest list through Metroside just follow the few steps outlined below;
1. Register a personal profile to become a part of the Metroside Community. 2. Once registered. Login through the homepage. 3. Select the My Guest List link under the Members Area menu 4. Fill out the form with your friends names. 5. Done!
So instead of submitting a request for tickets to be posted out, please submit a guest list instead. If you have any questions or enquires please email info@metroside.com
